เมื่อวันที่ ๑๘ กันยายน ๒๕๕๗ สถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงกัวลาลัมเปอร์ ได้ร่วมกับสถานกงสุลใหญ่ ณ เมืองปีนัง จังหวัดภูเก็ต สภาธุรกิจไทย-มาเลเซีย และสภาธุรกิจมาเลเซีย-ไทย จัดกิจกรรมการสัมมนาสร้างเครือข่ายทางธุรกิจไทย-มาเลเซียในหัวข้อ "Phuket-Penang and Thailand-Malaysia trade, investment, tourism and economic and development cooperation: Business Dialogue and Meeting" ที่ห้องประชุมใหญ่ โรงแรมเมโทรโพล จังหวัดภูเก็ต โดยมีผู้แทนทั้งจากภาครัฐ สมาคมธุรกิจ และภาคเอกชน จากไทยและมาเลเซียทั้งในระดับท้องถิ่นและระดับชาติ เข้าร่วมประชุมประมาณ ๑๐๐ คน ทั้งสองฝ่ายได้มีโอกาสพบหารือสร้างเครือข่ายและแลกเปลี่ยนแนวคิดเกี่ยวกับความร่วมมือทางธุรกิจในหลากหลายสาขา อาทิ โครงสร้างพื้นฐาน อุตสากรรมการท่องเที่ยว และเทคโนโลยีอิเล็กทรอนิกส์ นอกจากนี้ ยังได้มีการลงนามบันทึกความเข้าใจจำนวน ๒ ฉบับ ระหว่างหอการค้าจีนปีนังและหอการค้าภูเก็ต และระหว่างบริษัทแมร์รีบราวน์ (มาเลเซีย) กับแมร์รีบราวน์ (ยะลา) รวมถึงการลงนามซื้อขายลงทุนอสังหาริมทรัพย์อีกด้วย

 

On 18 September 2014, the Royal Thai Embassy, in collaboration with the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Penang, Phuket Province, Thai-Malaysia Business Council and Malaysia-Thai Business Council, organized a Thai-Malaysian Business Networking Dialogue under the theme "Phuket-Penang and Thailand-Malaysia trade, investment, tourism and economic and development cooperation: Business Dialogue and Meeting" at Metropole Hotel, Phuket, Thailand. The event, which boasted over 100 participants from both the public and private sectors of Thailand and Malaysia, allowed the two sides to engage in discussions and exchange views regarding cooperation in various fields ranging from infrastructure to electronics. On this occasion also, there were two signings of MOUs between Penang Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Phuket Chamber of Commerce, and between Marrybrown and MB Yala Thailand. Additionally, a hotel business deal was also concluded during the meeting.
